Relationship Counseling in Gig Harbor
Whether married, engaged or partners living together, statistics show us that more people seek couples therapy over any other type of issue one faces in their life.
Some of the triggers igniting disillusionment are the breakdown in communication skills, reaching an impasse in differing opinions, external stressors of family or careers, health challenges, the transition into the empty nest, or countless other presenting problems.
Couples seek outside assistance in finding and returning to a place of balance and homeostasis.
As I work with couples, I acknowledge a third client inside of the session, that of the relationship, the part that comes hurt and wounded.
Frequently it is relearning love languages, acknowledging reactive emotional responses without stopping to consider the facts, but other times it is about healing old wounds that have been carried inside the relationship for many years without being tended to and resolved.
Working collaboratively inside of therapy the couples learn how to find a new cadence that moves together, maintaining their autonomy while being in sync with each other’s steps.
